Each bamboo section is carefully dried, sanded, and polished to preserve its natural node structure and warm, golden color. The writing tip is hand-carved to a precise angle suited for both traditional Japanese brush calligraphy (shodo) and modern Asian-inspired lettering styles. The pen’s light weight — bamboo is one of the world’s lightest structural materials — creates a uniquely delicate, mindful writing experience that encourages slow, deliberate brushwork. The Sakura Bamboo performs beautifully with traditional sumi ink, liquid watercolors, and diluted acrylics. It is equally at home writing kanji characters, creating sumi-e style paintings, or adding a natural aesthetic to Western calligraphy compositions. The natural variation in each bamboo section means every pen is subtly unique in color and grain.
